Rin Sakyo (左京 鈴 Sakyō Rin?): SHOT's operator and secretary at the Akebono Police Station. Had a brother, now deceased, who sought to protect the fireflies at his lake so that Rin could be happy. Appears to be close to Kenji, even though he couldn't get her name right when they first met.
As a girl, she is good-hearted, caring but is sometime moody and hot-tempered, as shown when she often argues with Kenji, one argument even involving her slapping him. Her arguments with Kenji, especially one where she argued with him after he saved her life(due to the shock from the encounter) often serve as a comic relief to the series. Nevertheless, she is close to Kenji and secretly harbours deep romantic feelings for him.
Hints of her feelings are shown when she is sad and angry that Kenji supported her romantic date with the Mayor's only son, Hiroshi. She also subconsciously wishes for Kenji to ask her out on a date, as shown in Episode 51, and despite her constant arguments, she is shown smiling and blushing at him behind his back, calling him a 'real hero' at the end of Episode 43.
